In this podcast, we talk to Alawi. He is part of the movement Recht op Bestaan that squatted a church in Den Haag. The action has had a big impact on the media as the migrant-led protest reminds us, in Alawi's words that the right to exist is "for everybody, not just some rich, very very, rich". As the criminalization of existence and increasing repression of the right to protest mark the political sphere in the Netherlands, Alawi reminds us that direct action is an appropriate measure that aims at public awareness: "People can hear our voices through actions!".
